yes, I am indeed geek enough to make a medieval-style DDR machine for michiquest. it's semi-playable in-game too, and has a random assortment of actual DDR songs as midi music for it too.

part of the in-game "look" command description involves peering inside the "speakers" to find a pair of small trained woodland critters with tiny instruments.

the rest is explained as "magic". yep, gotta love the catch-all of "magic" as an explanation in a fantasy game.
